In 2017 PLN to export electricity to Malaysia

Jakarta, Sunesia — PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (National Electricity Company) will supply electricity to Malaysia in 2017. PLN’s Main Director Nur Pamudji explained that power plant in North Sumatra will be connected to Malaysia using 60km submarine cable. The capacity will be 600 megawatt (MW).
“PLN will connect Dumai and Malaka using submarin cable” said Nur Pamudji in PLN’s office. Nur also told that powerplant in Riau will also contribute to export electricity to Semenanjung Malaka. At this time, the progress is still design phase, because the project involves three parties: PLN, PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB/ national electricity company of Malaysia).
Nur added, they need 1.5 million USD per MW to build 1500 MW. “Budget fraction varies within three parties”, Nur explained.
